In early 2020 the world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. By March the virus reached Europe. Initially, the UK government restrained its actions. According to an alarming report published by Imperial College London, an uncontrolled pandemic could cause as many as 510,000 deaths in Britain. The UK prime minister, Boris Johnson, decided to dramatically change his plans. New regulations came into force, people were advised to stay at home and not leave without a “reasonable excuse”. London, one of the busiest world capitals, was “in lockdown”.
